,开展煤层赋存规律及变化原因研究,就显得十分必和迫切.本文以群英聚煤区内的钻探、物探等相关资料为依据,以煤田地质、构造地质、沉积岩与沉积相等理论为指导,对群英聚煤区的地质构造、煤系沉积特征、煤层煤质等进行总结和归纳,探讨了煤层形成条件及赋存特征.并通过主采煤层的厚度分析,总结得出如下煤层厚度变化规律：
(1) 3#煤层总厚度变化在3.45～5.89m,平均4.67m,连续性好,全区分布,总体上厚度聚煤区东南部较大,由东南向北西变薄,变化规律明显.该煤层含夹矸0-2层,属结构简单,并易于对比的煤层,属较稳定煤层.
(2) 11#煤层厚度1.27－4.51m,平均2.89m,连续性好,全区分布.聚煤区东南部和西部,煤层厚度较大,均在2m以上,向北煤层分岔（11下煤层）,显示该煤层向北有可能演变为2个分层.总体上属厚度变化稍大的较稳定煤层.
(3)分析了影响煤层厚度变化的因素主要有以下几个：影响3#和11#煤层厚度变化的因素主要有沉积环境、沼泽基底不均衡沉降,河流同期冲刷、后期构造变动和沉积基底不平.
