Producers were focussed on fulfilling contract deliveries as
loading delays led to some shipments being postponed this
week.Sabic confirmed today that one of its ammonia units
has been shut down since early October due to a technical
problem,resulting in delays to the loading schedule out of
Jubail.Sabic has reported that there is no set date for a
restart of the unit,and the shutdown has caused a delay to
some of its shipments to India and East Asia.
In Yuzhny,the Togliatti-Yuzhny ammonia pipeline was
re-opened at the weekend,following a 1-week closure for
repair work,enabling the plant to restart pumping to the
port,and allow Ameropa to resume loading vessels out of
Yuzhny.
In India,Cyclone Hudhud which hit the port of Vizag at the
beginning of this week and caused significant destruction
and fatalities,has disrupted production at the CIL plant at
Vizag and as a result,CIL has asked for one of its scheduled
ammonia cargoes to this facility be diverted to Kakinada.
Some spot purchasing was reported out of the Baltic this
week by Yara,which has bought 35,000t for November
loading from three suppliers.The cargoes were priced at
around $605/t fob and will load from both Sillamae and
Ventspils.
