所以很难决定该选哪一个.

我认为是remained,因为continued包含着停下来再开始的意思,remained有持续的意思我不知道我表述的准不准确,但是像条子拉人时不是都会说“you have right remain silcent”什么什么的,而且这句话应该是要突出那个“he”一直在读书而没去玩,所以我觉得是remained
