人们会因为不适应而拒绝探索不熟悉的环境,然而陌生的世界里往往有着更美的风景.
I’ve been there.I know how it feels to be on the inside looking out.
It was 13 years ago that my son Keith had an operation to remove a tumour1 from his leg.Maybe it would have been different if we’d been closer to home.Perhaps I would have felt comfortable in looking out of the window at familiar landmarks.
I had passed by hospitals a thousand times and never thought about what it would be like to be a face on the other side of the glass.Yes,I’d visited friends and family before when they were there.But this was different.This time the place would be our home for months.
I remember very clearly standing by the window of the waiting room that day.I was almost oblivious2 to my surroundings and was suddenly shaken when I happened to glance across the street.
"I can’t believe it!"I whispered."Two different worlds." From where I was standing I could see our city’s landmark,the famous Kiss Tower,from the top of which you can see a spectacular view.
It got me thinking about life.
There are many times when we are on the inside looking out,not by choice,but by circumstance.But too many people are afraid to venture3 out.The comfort of being in familiar surroundings dims4 the light of dreams they once thought they could realize.
Which side of the glass are you on?And what can you see from your side?
