Introduction
Our proposal focuses on the summer storage problem at Harding University. Although
each dorm has small storage closets, students are not satisfied with the amount of available space
or the disorderly state of the current system. The current storage is inconvenient for students
who live far from campus because storage is limited to three boxes for men and six boxes for
women. We aim to add more available storage through the importation of PODS storage units.
This will add more room for student storage, while not taking university space away from dorm
rooms, kitchens, or study halls. Also, PODS units are stored in a climate-controlled atmosphere
to prevent stored items from Arkansas humidity. For a small “per box fee,” students will be able
to store their boxes with all the convenience of on-campus storage for a fraction of the price of
storage at an off-campus facility, which ranges upwards of $35.00 per month.
You will also find our proposal to contain a suggested implementation scheme. Our
proposal will show why the plan is without cost to Harding University, as well as how the
storage will be conducted through PODS. Finally, our proposal will include an in-depth plan
for the actual depositing and retrieving of boxes from storage containers. Clear instructions will
be given to those in charge of implementations on the lowest level, as well as to the students
who are eligible for this program. We believe that this proposal is the building block on which
Harding’s future storage policy can be built.
