为什么考的是时态语态而非非谓语呢？

by the time 用法和by then一样么？为什么不用过完？

1 the way the guests were treated 是定语从句，完整句型是：the way that/which the guests were treated（客人被招待的方式），先行词是the way，the guests were treated 作定语用来修饰the way，从句the guests were treated 要用被动语态，表示被招待、被对待的方式。

by the time 用法和by then不能通用的。一个很简单的辨别方法：
1、By the time 后面可以加东西进行修饰或是限制；而by then后面就不可以加东西了。
例如：......by the time they were five-year old.
......by then.
2、而对于前面的内容，by the time前面不一定会出现时间名词等，只要后面有一个时间限定，表示出什么时候就可以了；但是by then前面一定要出现具体的时间限定，因为then是一个指代词，必修前面有指代的内容。

再答： by the time 1.表示将来的时间，译为：到。。。为止主句用将来完成时，而从句用一般现在时来表示将来的动作。如:I will have finishied the work by the time my father comes back. 2.表示过去的时间，译为：当。。。时候主句用过去完成时，而从句用一般过去时。如：He had built a lab for himself by the time he was 12 years old. by then 1.到那时，与一般将来时连用I'm sure that everything will be better by then. 我相信到那时一切都会更美好。 2.到那时为止，与完成时连用 They 'd lived here for ten years by then. 到那时为止他们住在这里10年了。至于区分考点的问题，就要具体问题具体分析。语言是很灵活的东西，不要把每个东西都学死了。很多东西都是你见得多了自然就知道了
