We know about man-made satellites.They are very important for us .They have been sent up into space by many countries.They go round the earth.They are used for helping us to learn more about the earth,the weather and other things .They are also used for sending and receiving messages.It makes people from different countries understand each other much better.So people say the world itself is becoming a much smaller place.

Long,long ago,people thought that the sun went round the earth.In some countries people even said that the sun was a god.They thought that he drove across the sea each day in a golden horse.Now we know the earth goes round the sun.It takes the earth a year to go all the way round the sun.Today men even know how for it is from the earth to go round the sun.Scientists tell us that the earth travels over a thousand miles a minute on its way round the sun.The sun is really a star.It is much,much bigger than the earth and it is so hot that no one can ever go to the sun
