Lies have a bad reputation.Telling the truth is normally considered to be a
good thing.One conventional view of lying is that it is bad in itself and
should be avoided at all costs.Another conventional view is that the
consequences of lying are often bad,so lying should be avoided except in
extreme circumstances.In the past two decades,though,a number of authors have
challenged conventional wisdom,arguing that lying is not as bad as normally
thought and that a number of other beliefs about lying are misunderstood.A
well-known study even shows that an ordinary person tells three lies every ten
minutes.
So what is your opinion of telling lies?How is your
relationship with them?What do you do when being lied to?And more importantly,
when and how do you choose to lie?

Horrible lies & White lies
The life is full of lies.I believe everybody lies in their lifetime.
There are many reasons for lying.Sometimes we make some mistakes but do not want to take the consequences.Then we lie and just pretended that we did not do it.Sometimes we have to lie because the truth is more hurtful and we need to tell the one who care about the matter with a white lie.Sometimes we lie to achieve our purpose.Of course,the purpose may be good or bad.
So I don't think it is easy to say lying is a wrong or a right thing to do.It needs to be judged by the situation when we lie.
A patient is diagnosed with cancer and his life is only 2 years left.If you were the doctor,what wiould you do?Tell the truth and make the patient hopeless or encourage him to keep will to fight and enjoy the life?In my opinion,if I was a doctor and I would tell him to enjoy his life and illness was not so serious.I believe in this situation the lies can be acceptable.
But if the lies are horrible ones,we need to avoid it.Because they can hurt people's feeling or make the situation worse.Actually,many people lies to avoid their responsibility.This is really a bad thing if we do like this.If everyone lies to escape the responsibility,then who will handle and solve problem.My view on this is if anything wrong happened,the first thing is not how to lie to escape it but face it and solve it with the help with others.I believe anyone would be happy to help the honest person.
Anyway,I hope in the future,the lies can be less and less and there are less situation that we have to tell some white lies.
