Living In Love: Life With English1 作文
一切都变了….英语老师、课本和报纸——但是,唯一不变的,是永远坚持地陪伴我的…英语。When I first came to this campus, I felt everything was gazing at me. I felt nervous and embarrassed. For the first lunch, I just ate little noodles. You know it would be very strange if I had the appetite to eat something at that time. I was wearing sweater and jeans, not the school uniform. So I felt I was different from any of them, who were swallowing the food and chatting with their classmates excitedly — yeah, I really was different.I noticed that time was passing quickly. After a little while, I was told that it was the time to meet with my teachers and classmates. I walked slowly to the teachers’ office upstairs, step by step. Finally the shiny office appeared in front of me. Wow, such a big office. All of the teachers in this grade worked in it. It had large transparent windows, and inside them I could see lots of short bookshelves and in each blank of the shelves there were homework books from different classes. The desks looked nice and the seats felt comfortable. I sat in one of the sofas and waited with patience. Just then a man in a black fur coat stopped beside me. “Your name is Questa, right? I’m the head teacher of students’ studying. Please let me introduce some of your teachers.” I suddenly stood up without thinking. The “black coat” teacher pointed at another man in a brown shirt, and said, “This is your class teacher, Mr. Dodge.” I said hello and bowed to him.“And this is our head teacher of the 3rd Grade,” he pointed at a woman. I was taken aback by her. I looked at her — my head teacher — up and down, very carefully. That was definitely a “giant” woman. She was tall with short curly hair, which covered most of her head. As I was thinking these things, the “black coat” teacher began to speak again.“Miss Zecchetti, are you teaching English in Class 13?”“Yes,” Said the giant woman, with a strange voice which was a little throaty. Till that time I finally realized she was maybe over fifty years old.“So you see? She is also your English teacher.” The black coat said with an inscrutable smile, “Miss Zecchetti is always strict with her students. So you have to work hard.”What did you say? I felt that I just couldn’t accept what he said at a time. Suddenly many strange thoughts came into my mind: study English — my favorite subject — with such a woman? How is she going to teach us? But some other thoughts stopped me from thinking like that. Miss Zecchetti looked at me kindly with a warm smile. I had a feeling that she was experienced and wise. She was so close to me that I could clearly smell something that was brimmed with English coming out from her. I felt a kind of force went towards me, and held me tightly and motherly. Maybe from that time, I had loved her already.“Nice to meet you Miss,” I said, and gave back a smile. Miss Zecchetti seemed happy.“I’m interested in English and I love it. I hope I can learn more here.” I continued speaking. Miss Zecchetti nodded but said nothing. That afternoon I got my uniform. I met my classmates and had three lessons with them. They were all very energetic and friendly. I chatted with them and made lots of friends just in that two and a half hours. The school — now it’s my school — was very big, about four or five times bigger than the old one (I often lost my way at the first several days). It had large buildings for computer lessons, art and music lessons, reading lessons, chemistry experiments and so on, and its facilities were all very nice.We chatted all the way from our teaching building to the computer science building. Sometimes I said something; for most of the time I didn’t know what to say, so I just listened to them. Finally they talked about Miss Zecchetti. I asked them if she was strict or not. They replied, “Yeah, she is very strict sometimes. But she is experienced and teaches really well. And do you know? It says that she is going to retire after teaching us…”I kept silent for a little while. What I thought was true. When I got to the classroom in the afternoon, a boy told me that Miss Zecchetti wanted to have a word with me. I became very nervous again. I walked to the teachers’ office. Miss Zecchetti had been waiting for me at the office’s big door already. She asked me to sit on one of the chairs. Then she sat on another chair, and we were face to face. She asked what our English textbook was called. In a time I suddenly forgot the Chinese name of our English textbook, so I just said, “I’m sorry I can’t remember it…Maybe it’s called ‘New Standard’.” I said the two words “New Standard” carefully and slowly. When I heard my amazing pronunciation, I myself was taken aback. “Oh,” Miss Zecchetti said. I looked at her quietly. She looked at me and nodded. She took out some English newspapers that had questions on. “Do them carefully and check the answers. Take them to me as quickly as you can, and then I’ll have a look.” She said seriously.I took these newspapers back to the classroom. I took out the new English book (in fact it was another edition) from my schoolbag and began to read. It had many words that I didn’t know in it, but the sentences were easy to me. There were a joke in each unit; I read all of them with interest. For all the time, English had been a tool — a thing that couldn’t be lost in my life. It was not only a subject but also a pleasure which could give me a paradisiac feeling from time to time.It was Sunday evening when I came back to our school. I was the first to arrive in our class. I opened the door of our classroom quietly and turned on the lights. I felt I had become a formal member of our class. I sat on one of the chairs and began to do my English newspapers. I quickly finished all of them. Then I took out one of my story books to read. I was reading meaningless stories till the end of the class. As soon as I ran out of the classroom, trying to hurry back to the apartment quickly, I heard one of my classmates said,“There’s going to be an English test tomorrow!”I suddenly stood up. My mind was a complete blank at that time. What should I do? All the things — English teacher, English textbook, English newspapers — were new. But the only thing was still the same — that’s the main thing — English. English herself was waiting for me as usual. She’s waiting for me to discover all.
