In respect to the vessel volume,it is put as the total tonnage or the net registered tonnage.The total tonnage,sometimes called theregistered tonnage,is calculated on the basis of the total volume of all the compartments and spaces that can be encolosed ;while the net registered tonnage is equal to the total tonnage minus the volume of the compartments and spaces that are not for cargoes or passengers
