I knew that if I wasn’t able to avoid a mistake, chances were that no other doctor _____,either.
A.should have been B.could have been C.ought to have been D.must have been.
1.I knew
3.Give reason for your choice
做这题,首先要熟悉:chances are that 这个句型=It is possible that...,it is likely that ...
1.I know if I am not able to avoid a mistake, chances are that no other doctor can avoid a mistake, either.
我们不能说can be able to do sth.的,
所以原四个选项中的最有可能的B项中的been应去掉,不然不省略就是 .no other doctor could have been able to avoid a mistake ,either.
I knew if I wasn't able to avoid a mistake, chances were that no other doctor could, either.
再答: I thought... I thought you were clever. 而I knew that... Nor was I afraid of making mistakes. I knew that when I was out in practice I would inevitably err at one time or another and operate on 35 someone who didn't need surgery or sit on someone who did. Five years earlier - even one year earlier - I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I had had to take sole responsibility for a mistake in judgment. Now I could. I still dreaded errors - would do my best to avoid them -- but I knew they were part of a surgeon's life. I could accept this fact with 40 calm ness because I knew that if I wasn't able to avoid a mistake; chances were that no other surgeon could have, either.
