London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It is located southeast of England across Thames River. It has a total land area of 1,575 square kilometres and a population of about 7.5 million. London has a temperate climate. Despite its reputation as being a rainy city, London receives less precipitation than Rome. Winters are generally chilly to cold with frost. Snow usually occurs about four or five times a year from December to February. Summers are generally warm and sometimes hot. Famous landmarks of London include Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street and the British Museum.
