In the contemporary world,education plays an increasingly key role in our daily life.But in the meantime,basic science,subject ever made contributions to development for human beings,has been gradually being deprecated and even ignored.In my view,this trend is not only due to the lack of governments’ emphasis,but is also attributed to more material ways.
As a matter of fact,the academic requirements of basic science,such as history,literature etc.is decreasing,which results in adolescents paying less attention to this kind of curriculum.For instance,GaoKao,the university entering test in China,allocates more points on engineering subjects,including Math and biology,which eliminates students’ motivation to put most efforts into studying so-called basic science.Also,in terms of employment,graduates who major basic science,more often than not,find it more difficult for them to acquire a well-paid and promising jobs.By contrast,there are more various choices for counterparts,which is accessible to lead a detrimental consequence.Furthermore,in this day of change,people are becoming more realistic and money-worshipping so that they think particle skills,knowledge and techniques definitely overweigh than mentality and cultures that derive from basic science.
Accordingly,the solutions to this issue should be varied.The most direct and efficient one is making mark of basic science account for a bigger proportion of decisive elements when evaluating a youngster.As a result,schools would invest a great deal of foundation,labor pool,teaching resources in educating theoretical knowledge.What is more,if authorities are responsible for creating a fair employment environment,ignorance and severe tendency would be apparently alleviated.Last but not least,raising citizens’ awareness,importance of basic science,can also be involved into crucial approaches of addressing this problem from a mental aspect.
To conclude,several factors contribute to vicious effects which stems from negligence of basic science.I am convinced that an exceptional system,not only based on education of theoretical knowledge,but also established among mental and practical aspects can benefit the society.
