Intimacy is a fashionable word these days that describes the kind of relationship people have always longed for.Intimacy,(derived from the Latin intimus,meaning inmost,) refers to the state of being most private,most personal in relationship.It depicts a special quality of emotional closeness between two people in which both are constantly alert and responsive to fluctuations of feeling and to the well-being of the other.It can mean to understand and to be fully understood by one who cares for us deeply.
Two people without blood bond/ties,develop/evolve from no connection at all a kind of intimacy,which is most praiseworthy,it is due to love.So all our social relationships including relatives,friends,colleagues,etc.,the relationship between mates or a married couple is far more important than that any other relationship in the world,because it is the most intimate one.
Intimacy is an important ingredient in the quality of love and of life.A high degree of intimacy between two lovers or spouses contributes to the happiness and emotional stability of both.All activities are more enjoyable and life is richer and more colorful when shared with and intimate partner.An intimate relationship acts as a buffer,providing shelter from the pressures and tensions of daily life.The availability of intimate relationship is an important determinant of how well we master life’s crises.Without intimate relationships we tend to get lonely and become depressed.There is no intimacy as precious or rewarding as that which can be experience in marriage when a marriage is absent the effects range from dull to dismal to devastating.
