I finally had to put away my old watch today. It was gift from an uncle and it had sat on my wrist every day for 25 years. It had replied to over 50 batteries. As one of the firet digital watches,it had served me faithfully and well.
suddenly the number on it had faded until I could no longer read them clearly.I couldn't throw it in the trash .I just put it in my drawer instead.
when I went to the shop to look for a new watch ,I was surprised.there were dozens of digital watches there.some of them could not only tell the time and date,but also showed me the time zones ,and even doubled as a stop watch.I looked at them all and then chose an old-fashioned,clock-face watch with only numbers and a second hand on it.I think it reminded me of keys times when change wasn't so constant and life wasn't so busy.
I've never been one who enjoyed changes,I often had to be pulled into them by people around me. still,through all the changes in life,I'm reassured by the one thing that never changes: life loves us and wants us to be happy.I keep this truth shining bright in my full heart and soul every day .with this truth I'm able to accept the fact that life is full of changes and go wherever these changes may take me.
one day,the watch inside of us will stop ticking. let's make sure we are ready for it.
