　　中医翻译的好坏取决于译者的素质.笔者认为,译者首先应有严谨和科学的工作态度.有许多中医专业术语的词语与我们日常生活中相同的词语的意思完全不同.如在中医学中,“更衣”一词是大便的古称；“风水”一词指的是由于风邪侵袭而导致的以水肿为主症的病证〔6〕.诸如此类的词语在中医学里很多,因此,译者唯有以严谨和科学的工作态度认真对待中医翻译,才能将中医理论知识准确传达给外国朋友.其次,译者不仅要具备丰富的中医理论知识,还应具备丰富的中国古典文化知识,只有这样,才能领会并深刻理解中医论着原文.同时,译者还得对西医的理论体系和治疗方法有所了解,并较好地掌握医学英语.最后,译者还应有较高的英语专业素质.能否将原作的信息用另一种语言完全、忠实地转达,与译者翻译时所用的语言专业水平是直接相关的.英译的中医论着是供使用英语语言的人们阅读的.如果译者的英语水平较高,英语基本功扎实,对英语遣词、造句、语法结构、修辞等有广泛的知识和熟练的翻译技巧,所译出的中医译文的语言就会流畅、顺达,阅读者就会清楚、明了地获得中医原文所提供的信息.
