这句话为什么要用过去式?不是还没发生么?

这并不是过去式,这只是一种礼貌性的问法,跟What will you do 和 What are you going to do的意思和用法是完全一样的.
示例：What would you do if you fail a match?
如果你在一场比赛中输了你会怎么做?
