1) Choose your song
It should say something about one aspect of love mentioned above.
The song can be about any kind of relationship (family ,friendship,romantic ) ,must express a specific idea (theme) about love ,and not display profanity or sexually explicit lyrics.
Note:you do not have to agree with the song’s message / theme
and can be critical of it is message or musical style.
2) interpret the lyrics –write a short essay (300 words)
a) use quotes and explain the song’s meaning (a lyrics sheet must be included with your essay)
be specific and detailed in your analysis
b) describe the musical style and beat and explain how you think they enhance the song’s message.
c) Conclusion – write your opinion of the song’s message and musical style
3) Create a visual display
a) Select a colored Bristol board (not black or white if possible)
b) Type and display your song’s lyrics so they are easy to read
c) Artistically illustrate / decorate your song’s theme
4) Presentation
a) Play a 30 second excerpt (one verse or chorus ) so the class can hear the musical style
b) Explain your song’s theme and describe the musical style
