Will Chinese language become the most popular international language some day?
A:As China becomes a global power, will Chinese language assume a greater global significance?
B:I think so,that significance will extend over business, trade, culture and other areas.
C:But, will Chinese have the influence of English now has? Will Chinese ever become the global language?
D: Yeah, I believe it will come true in the near future.
E:I have some doubts about your answer.
A: Can you show us some of your points?
E:After the year 1600, the British Empire began to spread English around the world.
B:The process around a huge boost in the 20th century through the business, technology and postwar reconstruction.
C:What's more, there were a number of quite extraordinary trends in culture, science and the arts that reinforces these developments. Either way, English now stands unchallenged as the world's international language.
E:English remains relevant today in every sphere of human life and activity. Though China's economy is strong enough to significantly boost the cause of the Chinese.
A:It seems unlikely that Chinese is going to displace English as the global language eventually. B:If that were to happen. It would arouse an entire linguistic and Cultural Revolution which does not seem feasible or practical.
C:Interestingly, there is not much effort even from Chinese to promote their language on an international stage. They are happy to be able to speak their own language. But when it comes to international business .It is they who choose, the way the world does - in English.
D:However it cannot be denied that till now Chinese is the most widely - spoken language in the world. But that is because of the huge China's population, within and outside China.
B: It seems quite improbably and far-fetched that the most widely-spoken language in the world will also become the most popular.
A:It was only a few short years ago that the English language began to replace the French language as the most important international language around the world.
B:Before the end of the second world war in 1945, the French language was still the most important international language around the world.
E:English only became the world's most important international language in the past few years because American became the biggest and the most powerful country in the world.
D:However, most economists are now predicting that China will overtake America, and that China will become the biggest and the most powerful country in the world.
B:Therefore, the Chinese language will soon begin to replace the English language around the world, the same way as the English language began to replace the French language around the world after the second world war.
C:I'm not so sure ... English is the main international language and I think many people would have trouble adapting to Mandarin, as widely spoken as it is especially for foreigners.
E:That's true. As widespread as it is, being the second most widely spoken language ... I think it's gonna be a very long time before it replaces English as THE MOST widely spoken language standard.
D:Logically, the Chinese language will have overtaken the English language by the year 2025 or 2035, depending on how fast every country around the world can start to learn Chinese and build Chinese language schools instead of English language schools.
B:What? You are so absolutely? I dun think Mandarin will come to dominate the international language because it has only official status in China. Whereas English has like 5+ major countries that uses it as the official language and 15+ other countries that has it along side with another language. So I think English will stay as the international business language for quite some time.
C:Chinese people should modernize and improve the Chinese language further, in order to make the Chinese language much easier to speak and to understand around the world.
A:It's not that hard to understand that concept. Let's say, car. In chinese, it's written as steam car (literally translated into English). It's like a puzzle game. You can separate these words and find another word to join them to form a new word. If you can understand this concept, then you have no problem on writing anymore. They don't really have past tense and others. You dont need to memorize the past tense, present tense and past participle.
D:As for the speculation that Chinese will take the world leading role of English in the coming decades, China must first reach the achievements in economy, science technology, military that the US has gained at present.
B:China will have the 3 times bigger military than the US? Maybe, but in how long? you think when China will keep pace up with and overtake the US in military developments? To be honest, it’s very hard to do that.
D: So there is a long ,long way to go to make our language the most popular international language at least in the near future.but we must have belief to promote the Chinese language and do our utmost effort to make it even more popular.
AB: We will try our best.
CE:We will never give up for every achievement that China will gain and publicize it worldwide.
D: Let's do from today like ''Yu gong yi shan" ,so some day it will come true.
