Apart from the determination of the physicochemical properties,
the liquid was also analyzed by gas chromatography (GC–MS
and GC–FID).An aliquot of the liquid was taken just after the
filtering and kept with isopropanol in a vial.The day after the
experiment the chromatographic analysis was performed using
the same method in both chromatographs:GC–MS and GC–FID.
The solutions obtained were analyzed in a gas chromatograph
coupled to a HP-5890 mass selective detector in order to
determinate qualitatively the compounds that appear in the
sample.The capillary column used was a 30 m * 0.32 mm *
0.25 um HP-5 (5% phenilmethilsiloxane).Helium of 99.999%
purity was used as the carrier gas and the injector temperature
was set at 280 ℃.The following temperature program was
adopted:start oven temperature 50℃ held 5 min,followed by
an increase to 63 ℃ at a rate of 1.8℃/min,then increased from 63
to 160℃at a rate of 5℃/min,and lastly increased from 160 to
295℃at a rate of 3℃/min,where it was held for 30 min.《The MS
operated in the full scan mode between m/z 45–425.The
chromatographic method explained before is used in the GC–
FID to find out the relative proportion of each compound in the
sample by calculating area (%).This method,widely used by other
authors [23,24],considers similar all the response factors therefore
does not give accurate quantitative results but is suitable for
comparing relative percentage of compounds in pyrolysis liquids
obtained in the experiments.》
