你也许觉得打招呼是很简单的一件事，不就是“Hello.” “How do you do?” “How are you?” “I’m fine, thank you. And you?”吗？
没错，你这样去打招呼也没有什么问题，但真正的美国人日常生活中打招呼是不是也这样呢？其实，这虽然只是个“二星级”的问题，但很多博士生也一样说不好，一迈出国门就闹出很多笑话。
让我们打招呼开始改变，学会用地道、纯正的美国英语去与人打招呼吧！
In America, nobody uses the expression “How do you do?” I don’t know how to answer it. I never heard it until I came to China, but Chinese people say it all the time. I wonder why? “Nice to meet you” is much better.
（在美国，很少有人使用“How do you do?”，因为我不知道该如何回答。我从没听过这句话直到我来到中国，而且中国人一直在使用这个说法，我一直很不解。如果用“Nice to meet you”会好很多
1. A: How are you doing? 你好吗? （注：are的发音常略去，发成How ya doin'?）
B1: I’m doing great. 我很好。
B2: I’m doing OK. 我还行。
B3: Pretty good. 还好。
B4: Not too bad. 还不错。
B5: I get by. 过得去。
2. A: How’s life treating you? 日子过得还算惬意吗？
B1: Not bad.不算坏。B2: It could be worse.还行。 “How’s life treating you?”用于朋友之间。对好久没见的人就说：How’s life been treating you?
3. A: What’s up? 有什么新鲜事儿？
B: Not much. 没什么。
4. A: I haven’t seen you in ages! 久违！这一阵子躲到哪儿去了？
B: Yeah, long time no see.是啊，很久没见了。in ages = in such a long time 5. A: What’s new? 近来如何？
B1: Nothing much. I’m still the same. 还是老样子，我一点儿也没变。
B2: Not much. How about you? 没什么。你呢？
B3: Same shit, different day. 不同的日子，同样的调子。 这样的回答虽然很常见，但却让你自己感到更沮丧，别人向你问好的时候还是多点说：Terrific! / Wonderful! / Fabulous! / Never better! 这样的话吧，这会让你一天的精神都很振奋，别人听起来感觉也很好。
Greetings in Passing
It is polite to greet a person you know. However, you don't always have time to stop and have a conversation. Just remember to smile as you say hello. A small wave is also polite. Sometimes you pass the same person a second time on the same day. You can say "hello again" or just smile.
跟认识的人打招呼是有礼貌的体现，但是你们并不会每次都有时间停下来谈谈。只要记住说“你好”的时候带上微笑就行了，另外轻轻招手也会显得很礼貌。有些时候你可能在同一天再次碰到这个人，那时你可以说"hello again"，或者仅用微笑示意。

·Slow down to greet someone you know. You don't have to stop what you are doing (walking, working, shopping).
放慢动作来同认识的人打招呼，不必停下（脚步，工作，购物）。

*Good night is a farewell(goodbye) phrase. It is NOT a greeting to use at night time.
"Good night."是用来告别（再见）的短语，并不是晚间打招呼的说法。
**Native speakers often shorten "going" to "goin" in casual greetings.
母语者在比较随意地问候时经常将"going"缩略说成"goin"。
Slang greetings in passing
Using slangin a greeting is typicalbetween close friends. Teens often use slang when they greet each other. Certain English speaking countries also have their own popular form of "hello".
用俚语来打招呼经常发生在好朋友间，年轻人见面时常用俚语互相致意，而每个英语(论坛)国家也有自己所流行的问候方式。
