例句中的written是动词的过去分词形式做后置定语.下面的句子是整个定语从句,可以用which took place或者that/which had taken place.
此句中would为情态动词,had often sat只是表示过去完成式.句子意思是想表达当他还是个孩子时他会经常,而不是已经经常...
此句用had是因为前面强调before I came,过去的过去就用过去完成式.would be最多只能表示过去式.
这句可以理解为虚拟语气.就像“If I were you”...
同上,虚拟语气.
in the first place的意思是从一开始,压根儿.at first则是起初,当初的意思,且一般多用于句首,不会用在句末.
