I don't really work here.Iam just helping out(为何用现在进行时）

1.过去完成时是从过去到过去,汤姆失望是在过去,到达聚会也是在过去
2.用现在进行时表示主动,表示是主角自愿帮忙的
3.这个不是过去完成时啦～过去完成时是had done.这个应该是过去进行时:was doing!表示jim当时正在盯着空处,强调当时正在!
