When I was admitted to this university, I noticed there were a variety of students around me. Some of them are from wealthy families but some are from poor families. It has been some people’s belief that a poor student won’t be a good student. But what I have experienced proves it wrong.
Tom is a boy born in a poor family. His father is the only labor force to support the family. However, he worked very hard in his senior high school and was admitted to this university. He’s been a straight-A student all the time now. Nothing can stop him from studying hard. He is the best example.
In my opinion, those poor students are more motivated to study hard since they are eager to change the status of their families in the future. They will make full use of the time others spend playing football, surfing the Internet, or being indulged in puppy love. Hence, chances are that they will be academically better and become good competitors for the scholarships in the university. And the solid knowledge they have acquired in studies will also facilitate their future jobs. In this sense, how can someone predict that they are sure to be bad students?
Moreover, a poor students will be grateful to everything he has got. Some students from rich families may take everything they possess for granted. However, poor students will cherish it. When they step into the society and become successful, they will probably do everything they can to help the poor, say establishing a charity.
Last but not least, a poor student is generally more perseverant than a rich student. That will be a big merit when it comes to every aspect in our life. Poor students won’t easily give up when they meet with difficulties. Therefore, we can see a lot of children from poor families have made some great people.
In a word, I don’t think a poor students is necessarily a bad student. Everyone has his chance to be a winner in the competition.
