IT was a cold winter night.Timo was going to bed when he got a phone call from his neighbor,Ms Jones.She was out of breath (上气不接下气).and crying when she told Timo went to Ms Jones'house at once.Nothing was found on the floor but Ms Jones'footprints(脚印)
"What happened?"Timo asked.
"I was taking a shower after a busy day.Iwas very tired so I guess I forgeot to pull the key out of the front door.The thirf must have come into my house after I got into the bathroom.Isaw a shadow(影子) from the bathroom mirror,"said Ms Jones.
Timo smiled after he listened to what Ms Jones said.
"It was really cold.Having a shower with hot water must be really nice,Iguess,"said Timo casually.
"Yes.Who would want a cold shower in winter?It is..."
"So you are playing a trick on me?"Timo asked before Ms Jones could finish her sentence.
"Nobody stole your necklace.You were lying(说谎)"
How did Timo know?

Answer.If Ms Jones were having a hot shower,steam(蒸汽)would cover the mirror.It was not possible for her to see a shadow from the bathroom.

答案：如果琼斯小姐真的系里热水澡的话,在那么冷的天气里,浴室里的水蒸汽使镜子表面变得极其模糊,要想从镜子看到人影是不可能的.
