Jane has lived in China for two year and she some know some ofthe differences between Western and Chinese culture.Here is what she said abour this ."In China people often try to avoid conflicts.If somebody does something you don't like,you may be upset,but you should hide it,keep it instade and act like nothing is wrong.If you must do something about it,you should not talk to the peerson directly,but rather ask someone else to talk with the person.However,in the West things are differernt.If someone does something I don't like ,I will tell him or her so.I may say it nicely or get very angry,but at least I will do something.Also,Iwon'ttalk to other persons about it and instead will talk to the person directly.In fact,in the West,if you say something bad about someone else instead of to them directly,it is thought that you have a bad character.in my frist year of teaching in China,I used to ask my stugents if was doing wrong.However,they said,"Oh,you arre doing a wongerful job.But after a time people told me that the leader was not satisfied with my work.Afew months later,I gota lettersaying that I would no longger be able to teach at the school.I was so surprised that I don't know how to deal with it."
